Mouth sores are common during chemotherapy, and can be a nuisance if you don’t watch what you eat. Citrus fruits may have you wondering if you can use the fire extinguisher for your mouth. You might just be tempted to give up on flavor and go for what we call in our household “Scandinavian bland.”

Despite my heritage, I hardly find a plate full of soft white foods appealing, and there are alternatives. Pineapple is a forgotten fruit that many people can enjoy with mouth sores. And a special, but quick to prepare dessert, may be just what the doctor ordered.
