I often hear lung cancer survivors say they don't know how to thank their loved ones enough. But here's a simple way.

Nominate them for the first annual "Wind Beneath My Wings" Caregivers Award.

The award is designed to honor those who go above and beyond in caring for a loved one with lung cancer. In the process of sharing the impact that lung cancer has on real people, the award also raises awareness in a way that cold statistics never could.

Who can I nominate? The foundation states: "Please nominate the person who helps you persevere with grit, the person who is present for you with love, humor and support at a time when you need them most... Who is the wind beneath your wings?"

The website: Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation

The deadline: October 15, 2010

Submission requirements: Maximum word count is 1500 words. Applications should be submitted via email to andrea@lungcancerfoundation.org

The award will be presented at the Bonnie J. Addario Foundation's Simply the Best Dinner Gala on November 13, 2010.

And for the caregivers out there...

Is there something you do/have done that has helped your loved one cope with lung cancer that you would be willing to share? Please share your tips and read those from others in our "readers respond" article below :
