Dysphagia is defined as the symptom of discomfort or pain with swallowing. Dysphagia may be described as pain with swallowing, an inability to swallow certain foods, or a sensation of something being stuck in the throat.
With lung cancer, dysphagia can be caused by radiation therapy, chemotherapy or a tumor putting pressure on the esophagus. Certain dietary practices, such as eating soft foods and eating small and frequent meals, can minimize discomfort from dysphagia.
