Esophagitis

Definition:

Esophagitis is defined as inflammation of the esophagus, the tube that leads from the mouth to the stomach. Symptoms of esophagitis can include difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), heartburn, or the sensation of something being stuck in your throat.

In lung cancer, esophagitis can occur as a side effect of radiation therapy.

Examples:
Jim developed esophagitis during his radiation therapy for lung cancer.
