Definition: A group of compounds found in plants and plant-based foods. Flavonoids appear to have antioxidant properties that may lower the risk of some diseases.
Also Known As: bioflavonoids
Examples:
The National Cancer Institute states that consuming foods high in flavonoids may reduce the risk of developing lung cancer.
