Peripheral Neuropathy

Definition: A problem with the nerves that travel between the spinal cord and the extremities.

Peripheral neuropathy can be caused by many conditions, such as diabetes, infections, or toxin exposure. With lung cancer, it is usually a side effect due to certain chemotherapy medications. Symptoms include numbness in the hands and feet, often accompanied by a burning type of pain.
