A pleurectomy is a surgical procedure to remove part of the pleura, the lining around the lungs.

A pleurectomy is one type of surgery done to treat mesothelioma, a rare form of lung cancer most often related to asbestos exposure.

Examples:
After Ken was diagnosed with mesothelioma, his doctor recommended he have a pleurectomy to remove the tumor.
