Definition:

RBC's (Red blood cells) are the type of cells in the blood that are responsible for delivering oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body.

A red blood cell count is usually done as part of a complete blood count (CBC), that also tests the number of white blood cells (WBC's) and platelets in the blood.

With lung cancer, chemotherapy can decrease the number of RBC s circulating in the body, resulting in anemia.
