What We Did to Raise Lung Cancer Awareness

I started a Facebook page called Make Some Noise!!!...for Lung Cancer Awareness and then became an affiliate of the Bonnie J Addario Lung Cancer Foundation.

I hosted a Lung Cancer Awareness game with the AHL's Springfield Falcons hockey team and am currently working on plans for a much bigger event with them for November which is Lung Cancer Awareness Month.

BJALCF does not use the white or clear LC ribbons. We believe in being SEEN and HEARD. Our colors are HOT pink and Neon green and we MAKE NOISE as much as possible.

How it Helped

Through interacting with the fans who attended the game in April, I was able to educate people about the true causes and facts about Lung Cancer.

We handed out literature and information as well as stickers and pens. It was a wonderful way to get the word out about Lung Cancer and share the facts about this disease.

It is my hope that the November event will be a huge success, not only in raising money to help fund research and development of new treatments but also to help erase some of the stigma that is so unjustly associated with this disease.

Lung Cancer does not discriminate and neither can we.

Tips and Tricks

  • be positive
  • be assertive
