Many Ways to Raise Lung Cancer Awareness

We need to get Involved!

What We Did to Raise Lung Cancer Awareness

I wrote to our congressmen and women to sign the Lung Cancer Mortality Reduction Act, wrote to our governor and our mayor to declare November Lung Cancer Awareness Month, spoke to the editor of our local paper to run a story, wrote a letter to the editor, had a PSA included in our paper, spoke to a group of 80 Rotarians about lung cancer, participated in "Free to Breathe" Walk/Runs, and am captaining a team this year. My husband and I are also presenting scholarships in our daughter's name, (She died of lung cancer) and I take every opportunity I can to talk about the need for awareness and funding for lung cancer.

How it Helped

More and more people are being enlightened on the awful statistics regarding this disease and the need to raise awareness and funding for this disease.

I also let people know how they can be of help to those who have lung cancer.

I visit those who have lung cancer and try to be an ear and heart for them in their struggle.

Tips and Tricks

  • Attend a National Lung Cancer Partnership Summit.
  • Read about Lung Cancer.
  • Have a bulleted sheet of statistical information.
  • Prepare an "elevator talk" of the major points of information
  • Prepare a talk to give to civic groups.
